Viltkamera Engerdal — 25+ game cameras watching the forests around us

One of the best ways to understand just how much wildlife lives in the forests around Forest Ranger Farm is to let the forest show you itself. That is exactly what Viltkamera Engerdal does. It is a public Facebook page run by a local wildlife-camera enthusiast here in Engerdal — the municipality Drevsjø is part of — who has set up more than 25 game cameras across the area.

The clips and photos posted there are unstaged and unedited: animals passing a camera at their own pace, day or night, summer or winter. Over time the page has built up a remarkable picture of what actually moves through these woods.

Moose appear regularly — cows with calves in summer, big bulls in the autumn rut, and winter herds picking their way through the snow. Brown bears show up more often than most visitors expect, especially in spring and late summer. Wolverines make occasional appearances, along with foxes, hares, lynx tracks, and a long list of birds. Every few weeks something turns up that reminds you how wild the landscape here still is.

For guests staying at the farm, the page is worth a follow before you arrive and while you are here. It sets expectations for what you might spot on a walk, and it is a reminder that even when the forest looks empty, it usually isn't.
