World Masters Fly Fishing Championship 2026 — hosted next door

From 27 July to 2 August 2026, the rivers and lakes around our farm will host some of the best fly fishers in the world. The 11th FIPS-Mouche World Masters Fly Fishing Championship is being organized by the Norwegian Federation of Competition Fly Fishers (NKFF) on behalf of FIPS-Mouche, with Koppang as the host town and Stor-Elvdal, Rendalen and Engerdal as the host municipalities. It is a big event for a very quiet corner of Norway — and it is happening right at our doorstep.

The waters

The championship will run on some of the most storied fly-fishing waters in Norway. Lake sectors on Storsjøen and Lomnesjøen at Åkrestrømmen, together with Sølensjøen, Galtsjøen and Isteren, will host the competition. These are the same lakes that shape the landscape around Forest Ranger Farm.

A base at the edge of the wild

Forest Ranger Farm sits between the Femund lake and the mountains, only a short drive from several of the competition sectors. For competitors, coaches, families and spectators, the farm is a quiet historic base to come home to after a long day on the river — an old Norwegian government forest ranger home, restored and still surrounded by the same forest it was built to watch over.

Why this matters long after the medals

World-class fly fishers do not pick a region by accident. The lakes of Storsjøen, Lomnesjøen, Sølensjøen, Galtsjøen and Isteren are chosen because the fish, the water and the wilderness are the real thing. Long after the championship is over, these same waters will still be here — full of grayling, trout and char, running through the forests and mountains of Innlandet.
